INSTRUCTORS:
Ben Chacko - My name is Benjamin Chacko and I'm a filmmaker. I primarily work as a Location Manager and Scout in New York & New Jersey. I have ten years of filmmaking experience in the film & television industry and I'm a proud Theatrical Teamster for Local Union 817. I did not go to film school, mostly because of circumstance but that motivated my choice to pursue the work and learn from hands-on experience instead of film theory. My first opportunity to work on set was in the advertising & marketing industry. My career started by working in production as a PA (Production Assistant) on commercials. I learned the basics about set and the physical process of filmmaking from this period of time. After I gained enough experience working in production on commercials, I transitioned to the locations department for a television show "The Get Down" on Netflix. I've worked in film & television ever since and the work has taken me all over the tri-state area working with many different contacts, government agencies, municipalities, and more. I've been very lucky to have worked on numerous films like "John Wick 3", "A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood", "You Were Never Really Here" and a number of television shows such as "The Walking Dead: Dead City", "White House Plumbers", and "Severance" to name a few.
Jillian Fisher began her career as an intern with the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival. Three film festivals, various day jobs and a very particular set of skills later, Jillian created an eponymous boutique public relations company. When a few movies came knocking at the door of one of her clients (the City of Kingston, New York) Jillian answered and made sure that the movies were filmed there. After assisting the productions with locations and negotiations, Jillian turned her attention full-time to location scouting for the entertainment industry. Whether working with directors at the beginning of their career or those who’ve won Academy Awards, Jillian found a passion for bringing the page to life. Over a decade later Jillian still loves the creative aspects of scouting, but is now also pursuing producing her own projects. Using her years of experience behind-the-scenes, Jillian has created character-driven scripts for film and television featuring strong female leads of all ages. Jillian has very proudly served on the Board of Directors of Upstate Women In Film & Television (UPWIFT) almost since its inception and is a member of New York Women In Film & Television (NYWIFT) as well.
