Are you interested in a career working in film and television?  Learn the skills needed to work on set in our Crew Boot Camp!

Whether you have previous experience, or are new to the industry, this 3.5 day training led by experienced industry professionals will prepare you for the exciting and fast-paced world of production and working on a film or TV set.

This immersive bootcamp experience guides participants through the fundamentals of working in the industry and on a set, including script breakdowns, script continuity, who’s who on a call sheet, preparing for a day’s work, chain of command and other key production assistant roles. Once the fundamental foundation is set, the training moves on to a mock shoot where participants will have hands-on experience in several key film departments, and train directly with industry professionals.

This boot camp will provide trainees with:

  • Hands-on training experience in departments which include camera, sound, grip and electric, art, costume/wardrobe, and production

  • Basic Set 101 instruction so that graduates feel prepared to work on an actual set

  • Techniques for collaborating and working with actors, directors, and other departments

  • An understanding of departmental roles and operations

  • Rental order fulfillment, truck load-in/out, camera logs, departmental particulars, video village set up and breakdown, laying of dolly track, handling coils and cables, operating a boom, prop continuity, and more

Registration Fee: $1,200 Full scholarships are available for up to 25 participants!

Stockade Works is particularly seeking diverse members of the community and women who are typically precluded from jobs in the film production sector.


INSTRUCTORS:

Aaron Phillips is a versatile and experienced Cinematographer whose credits span commercial, documentary, music video, TV and narrative work. His passion for cinematography has taken him around the world to film, including personal favorites Japan, Lebanon, Sri Lanka, Iceland, South Africa, Bangladesh and Cuba. With expertise in all formats from film to digital, he is equally nimble with small documentary crews to managing large feature and television crews.

 
 
 
 

Brendan Lynch-Littlejohn is a 1st AD & DGA Member since 2011.  He currently lives in North Jersey with his husband Sean & their two cats.  He has worked on a variety of NYC area movies & television shows in his 12 years with the guild.  He got his DGA start working as an Additional 2nd AD back on the original GOSSIP GIRL & has since become a 1st AD, working on projects such as GOTHAM (FOX), THE SINNER (USA), 13: THE MUSICAL (NETFLIX), the GOSSIP GIRL reboot (HBO Max) & most recently the final season of MANIFEST (NETFLIX). 

 

While studying at the London Film School, Allison Jackson discovered her keen ear and love of sound. Once a fully-fledged union member, she began working as a sound utility. Having worked 5 years as an indie sound mixer, she was given the opportunity to mix tandem episodes for all 3 seasons of the television series ‘The Following’. After that show ended, she gradually made the shift to mixing full time. More contacts were made, more experience gained, and she now works full time as a mixer. She still learns from every job, strives for perfection in every job, and has yet to lose her love of sound.

 

Annie Simeone Morales is a New York based Production Designer. She designed Ray Romano's directorial debut feature film, SOMEWHERE IN QUEENS. Her recent design work can be seen in the upcoming independent feature TURN ME ON for director Michael Tyburski, the mind bending sci-fi feature MINOR PREMISE, the psychological thriller BRAID which premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival, period crime drama PAYBACK, the Netflix feature COIN HEIST, and VILLAINS - the 2019 SXSW premiered comedic-thriller, directed by Dan Berk & Robert Olsen, for BRON Studios. She was also the Art Director on Ryan Murphy's feature film THE BOYS IN THE BAND, Michael Showalter's feature SPOILER ALERT, and the Netflix TV show DASH & LILY. She most recently Art Directed and then finished as Production Designer on Justin Baldoni's film IT ENDS WITH US, starring Blake Lively.

 
 

Derek Wimble is a 1st AD whose Film and Television credits include BULL, Blindspot, The Girl on the Train, The Americans, Annie, White Collar, Life of Pi, Unforgettable, Eat Pray Love, and How to Make it in America.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Nicole Montagnino Workshop with Stockade Works

Nicole Montagnino is a Set Decorator who works in New York City and the Hudson Valley. She is a member of the SDSA and IATSE Local 52. Her recent credits include The Other Two Season 3, Law and Order Season 21, I Know This Much is True and Lost Girls.

 
 
 

Melissa Guimaraes has been working as a grip in film and television for 26 years. In 2006, she joined IATSE Local 52, and expanded her work as a proud member in all the grip departments out there. She has worked as shooting grip, dolly grip, & construction grip on a wide variety of film and television jobs including “The Good Wife“, “Law and Order” (and SVU & CI), “Men in Black 3”, and “Bourne Legacy”. After starting a family, the past years have settled her into work as a rigging grip, and she is happy to have completed such projects as Marvels' Luke Cage series, Defenders, and Law & Order: Organized Crime in recent years.

 

Amit Gajwani was born in Mumbai, India and at 12 years old moved to New York.  The influence of both cultures inspired travel that has taken him around the world.  He also discovered a love for historical fashion during his travels and the combination of these influences are evident throughout his designs.   He became established and well respected in the world of fashion print and advertising campaigns for clients such as Jack Daniels, Microsoft, Spike TV, Ted Baker London, Maybelline, PNC bank, Ford Motors, and many more.  Amit graduated with a psychology degree from Vassar College.  His passion for psychology lends itself beautifully to character work within short format content and narrative feature films.  He has worked with a wide range of talent such as Gabrielle Union, Lala Anthony, Chris Abbott, Mary Steenburgen, Jim Belushi, Rachel Brosnahan, Macy Gray, Olivia Newton John and many others.  His films have premiered at various film festivals around the world.  His last feature for Netflix, The Perfect Find won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023.  Amit also costume designed the sold-out Off-Broadway run of the play, Phoenix, starring Julia Stiles.

 

A Gaffer, and resident of the Hudson Valley, John Raugalis is excited to see projects once only found in NYC and Long Island produced in this area. As a member of IATSE Local 52 John has learned from the best and is happy to share hands on knowledge with the participants of Stockade Works Boot Camp. He can also recommend any of the local rail trails and especially the Walkway Over the Hudson for a walk or bike ride to clear the mind.

 

Alan Wolfe - 1st Assistant Camera , credits include "Blue Light", "Bingmas", "Pretty Little Liars: Season 1", "A Quiet Place", "The Rest of Us", “Law and Order: Criminal Intent”, “The Stepford Wives”, and many more.

 
 

Jennifer Koestler always knew she wanted to be a part of the film industry. It wasn’t until working on a low budget film in 1995 that she realized the camera department was the right place for her. After entering Local 600 in 1996, she spent the majority of her career as a 2nd AC. She is grateful to have learned from hundreds of crafts people during her tenure in the film industry. Her credits include feature films such as Cruel Intentions, Men in Black 2, Big Daddy and Requiem for a Dream. A highlight of her career was working for the Discovery Channel for several years, where she was lucky to travel the world to such locations as Myanmar, Africa, and Bali. After relocating to New York City she worked on various television series such as The Sopranos, Gossip Girl and Sex in the City.
