Full and partial scholarships are available.

Applications from those 16-18 years of age will be considered to audit on a case by case basis.

Workshop is limited to 20 participants.

Stockade Works is particularly seeking diverse members of the community and women who are typically precluded from jobs in the film production sector.

Two and a half day workshop led by sound professionals Jan McLaughlin, Julie Stalker-Wilde and Teferra McKenzie.

Through hands-on learning with industry standard sound equipment, participants will create sound projects of their own, and develop a working knowledge of set protocols expected of professionals on TV/film sets. Students will also learn tips and tricks on how to get and keep a job, the benefits of joining and creating an audio community, as well as professional audio societies and union memberships.

Upon successful completion of this intensive, participants will be referable for sound utility positions on upcoming non-union film productions. Scholarships provided.

Pre-requisites: Stockade Works is particularly seeking diverse members of the community and women who are typically precluded from jobs in the film production sector. No experience is necessary. In order to attend workshops participants must be 18 years of age or older.


INSTRUCTOR: Jan McLaughlin

Jan McLaughlin has worked as a production sound mixer for film and television since 1992; currently prepping for Ava DuVernay’s “Central Park Five”. Two Emmy statues adorn her kitchen shelf.

She’s TA’d for NYU SCE’s 13-week Intensive Film Class, guest lectured in sound at NYU, SVA, and Brooklyn College’s film schools, designed a Master Class in Film/Television Production Sound for Brooklyn College’s Graduate Film Program, and conducted two Wizgirls STEM conferences for the American Association of University Women. In addition, Jan regularly consults with Anna Deavere Smith and a bevy of sound puppies. Every Saturday and Sunday morning you can find her in video conference with production sound mixers from around the world.

 

INSTRUCTOR: Julie Stalker-Wilde

Julie Stalker-Wilde’s credits include boom operator for “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Z: The Beginning of Everything,” “Rabbit Hole,”  “The Sopranos,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

 

INSTRUCTOR: Teferra McKensie

Teferra McKenzie workshop with Stockade Works

Teferra McKenzie is known for his work on “Friends from College,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Jumper”, “Limitless” (2011) and “Beginners” (2010).
