Are you ready to explore the intricacies of Accounts Payable in Television and Film? Dive into our Online Production AP Accounting Workshop, tailored to provide comprehensive training from foundational basics to the responsibilities of 2nd and 1st assistants.
Accounts Payable for Film & TV refers to all business expenses, with the exception of payroll, associated with a project. Accountants working in accounts payable are tasked with handling payment for all invoices, purchasing cards, and petty cash expenses, among others.
This course is ideal for industry professionals seeking deeper insights into AP accounting and individuals with experience in accounting, budgeting, and finance looking to transition into the entertainment field.
Follow the production journey across five virtual sessions, equipping yourself with the tools needed to advance your career in production AP across various entertainment mediums.

This workshop will equip trainees with:
Understanding of documents and forms relevant to accounts payable
Insight into the production AP process, from start to finish, with organizational tips
Proper processing procedures for purchase orders, invoices, check requests, and purchasing cards
Skills to work as a second assistant accountant in a production accounting office
Overview of software, accounting concepts and production tax incentive programs
Understanding of responsibilities of second and first assistant accountants
Successful completion makes participants eligible for referral to assistant accounting positions on upcoming film and television productions here in the Hudson Valley.
Pre-requisites: Film/TV production experience preferred or a background in accounting, finance, or budgeting. Some Excel or equivalent program skills are a plus, along with a detail-oriented mindset.
Registration Fee: $425 (full scholarships are available for up to 18 participants)
This workshop is open to all community members, and is specifically seeking candidates from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds, women, and those historically excluded from the film industry.
INSTRUCTORS:
Pearl Fearon has worked in production accounting for 15+ years. She was raised around the NYC film industry and started working in accounting offices when she was still a teenager. She has worked primarily on big budget episodic and features from coast to coast - but mostly in the states in between. She is an active member of IATSE Local 161, the union that represents production accountants in 24 states, and is on the leadership team for the Accounting Alliance, a volunteer-run organization of production accountants whose goal is to share resources and collaborate for better working conditions, regardless of union status, jurisdiction, or location. She is a regular instructor at Local 161 because she believes deeply in the value of education, and looks forward to sharing her skills and knowledge with Stockade Works. She is from NYC and currently resides in Austin, TX.
Verlette Franck - VP Direct Marketing & Client Development - Cashet
Verlette joined CASHét in 2016 as an industry veteran with 20+ years’ experience, including an extensive background in production incentives and corporate finance. She wrote the book on optimum navigation of the CASHét system, and continues to work closely with clients, anticipating need as much as answering it.
Mark Valera - Extreme Reach
Based in New York City, Mark Valera has actively supported the day to day Production Accounting community's software needs for nearly three decades. Having developed working relationships with Production and Post-Production Accounting teams in that time, he is keenly aware of the changing job and logistic requirements. As part of the Extreme Reach Quality Assurance team, his experience is contributing to enhancements to the production accounting application.
Chris Tung - Production Finance Executive - Netflix
Chris joined Netflix in 2015 and has held various roles within Production Finance across multiple locations worldwide. He is currently serving as the Project Manager for Production Finance Outreach & Training. This department is tasked with fostering strong relationships with freelance accountants and the studio. Simultaneously, the department develops training programs designed to empower accountants to excel in their roles.
Victor Rieman - Assistant Business Agent - IATSE Local 161
Based in New York, he serves as a representative for approximately 1700 Production Accountants, Coordinators, and Script Supervisors in 24 states. Victor has been an active member of the labor movement for years, he received his BS in Industrial Labor Relations from the Cornell ILR School.
