Stockade Works, Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild, and Woodstock Film Festival are delighted to announce a live screenplay reading for the upcoming film DUE EAST, written and to-be directed by Jamie Buckner. In 1882, a stubborn widower, and his reserved neighbor put their differences aside to search for his young daughter lost deep in the mountain wilderness. This is the story of DUE EAST, set in the lesser known northeastern side of the great American frontier, and to be shot locally in the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains.
This live screenplay reading will feature actors Crystal Tweed and Norm Magnusson, and narration by Eric Newland. Story feedback will be gathered from the audience after the read. Refreshments will be available for purchase on site.

Crystal Tweed is a professional actress, model and host with over 20 years of experience in the industry. She has co starred in several feature films all over the region including 'Paint', 'The Hating Game', and 'The Secret Diary of an Exchange Student.' In the summer of 2021 during the global pandemic Crystal was cast in an immersive theater experience for Historic Huguenot Street titled Pathway to the Ballot Box. A unique theater experience taking visitors through 300 years of local women’s history. A very telling piece for the times. This summer she was cast in the role of the prosecutor in Catskill Public Theatre's inaugural stage production of Terror and is part of the ensemble cast of River Rep Theater. Along with her husband Pedro, Crystal runs Tweeds Gymnastics, a recreational and competitive gymnastics program in nearby Monticello NY, where she grew up. She is a very active member of her church where she plays ukulele and sings. She has been married to Pedro for 16 years and has 2 daughters, Angelica 27 and Layla 20. I love working all over and traveling but it's even more of a perk to get a chance to work close to home. The relationships I build acting with such wonderful talent from across the U.S. and County is an added bonus.
15 years ago, visual artist Norm Magnusson returned to his first creative love, acting. Since then he’s been lucky enough to play “George” in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, “Pozzo” in “Waiting for Godot”, and as “Oberman” in David Mamet’s “The Water Engine. He’s been featured in several feature films and starred in a handful of shorts. In addition, he’s written and performed numerous monologues: “Swipe Right”, about the comedy of dating apps, “Kill the Head”; about being a stand in for Bill Murray on a zombie movie; “The Definition of Pornography” and “Norm’s Memory Sale”, where he ascribes fictional provenances to yard sale items. He’s also performed at numerous story slams, most recently “The Porch” at Kaatsbaan Cultural Center in Tivoli, NY and also Mark Matousek’s “To Stop the Violence Against Women” in Eve Ensler’s “A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer”. He’s done national voice overs for Kit-Kat candy bar, Pepsi soft drink, and numerous others. His agent described his voice as “the smart dumb guy.” Somehow, he enjoyed that characterization. As a visual artist, he’s represented in the permanent collection of NY’s MoMA, The Museum of the City of New York, The Dorsky Museum, The New-York Historical Society, The Woodside Heights Art Museum and The Anchorage Museum of History and Art and many other public and private collections. He’s received numerous awards and grants including two Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grants, a NYFA Fellowship, two NYSCA grants, and a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Grant, amongst others. He’s shown in galleries and museums in New York, New Zealand, London, Paris and all over the U.S. and been reviewed everywhere from the NY Times to the Washington Post to the Utne Reader, Sculpture Magazine, TrendHunter.com and numerous other national and international magazines, websites and blogs.
Jamie Buckner is a Kentucky born, New York-based director/writer/producer and founder of the independent content collective, Derby City Productions. From independent projects to larger studio fare in and around his hometown of Louisville, Jamie moved to New York City, working his way up alongside Spielberg, Ephron, Scorsese and more. His feature debut as a director/writer SPLIT is the world’s first romantic bowling comedy. His non-fiction debut as a producer, CALL US ISHMAEL, is a look into the fascinating cultural permanence of Herman Melville’s Great American Novel, Moby Dick.
