STOCKADE WORKS 2023 YEAR IN REVIEW

Our unwavering commitment persists: to train, mentor, and foster a resilient Hudson Valley workforce.

2023 was a challenging year for Television & Film, especially for industry workers across the country and in the Hudson Valley. But with the 40% upstate NY Film Tax Credits making the Hudson Valley one of the most competitive locations in North America, and the SAG-AFTRA and the WGA strikes ending with critical negotiations reached with Hollywood studios, the production industry is regaining momentum. Stockade Works is poised and equipped to meet the rising demand for local crew.

In 2023 Stockade Works:

  • Trained 72 local Hudson Valley residents in our Core Programs

  • Held 5 trainings in Budgeting/Scheduling, Production Office, Grip, and Camera/DIT

  • Reached a total of 311 graduates to date for the local production crew workforce

ACCESS YOUTH

INITIATIVE

In 2023 we launched our first-ever in-school youth program. Over the course of the entire 2023-24 academic year, SWAY is serving 60 students over 4 classes at Ellenville High School and training them in the fundamentals of working in Film & TV production careers.

CAREER AWARENESS

In 2023 our Career Awareness program served over 1,500 teens and adults at 11 partnering schools and organizations. These interactive assemblies and programs demystify the professional pathway to careers in TV & Film production that are available to our participants right here in their own communities.

MEET THE PROFESSIONALS

In partnership with White Feather Farm, we hosted 200+ members of the public for salon-style Career Awareness events highlighting top-of-their-field industry professionals. Featuring talks with Christine Ng (Cinematography), Kasia Walicka-Maimone (Costume Design), Judy Rhee (Production Design), and John Nugent (Visual FX), the salons unearthed the pathway to obtain key positions in these different fields.

Despite the slowdown from the strikes, Stockade Works:

  • Worked with 45+ productions shooting in the Hudson Valley

  • Made over 460 referrals of SW graduates for local production jobs

  • Referred graduates to 93 local production jobs

We need your support as we dive into 2024!
